Load Cells for Tanks | Silo Weighing System | Hopper Scale System

Though several methods and sensors for checking tank levels exist, the physical weight is the most important process variable than even mass, density, level, or volume. By weighing the tank, hopper, or silo, the control system is basically “counting molecules”, given that each atom has its own weight. Additionally, load cell for tanks' weight measurement is not influenced by differences in material density, temperature, viscosity or material aeration. None of these variables affects the final product weight.

Measuring the contents of any industrial tank, silo, or hopper requires an accurate hopper scale system. Utilizing multiple high-capacity load cells for silos measurement in conjunction with powerful instrumentation (aka amplifiers or signal conditioner) will result in an effective tank weighing system.

Our load cells for tank weighing system have been specifically designed to accurately weigh materials being stored or mixed in tanks.

How it Works

1. Four LCF Series Pancake Load Cells have been installed at the base of the posts of this silo (silo load cell).

2. Depending on the operator's preference, two means of instrumentation can be used to retrieve the measurement data of the silo's contents (load cell for silo).

3. The first method is to use FUTEK’s USB Solutions. Each LCF Series Pancake Load Cell is paired to a USB Module that can stream live data onto a PC utilizing FUTEK’s SENSIT Test and Measurement Software.

4. The second method is to connect each LCF Series Pancake Load Cell to FUTEK’s IAC200 2–4 Channel Summing Junction Box, which will gather the collective load of each load cell and then stream that output to a display (IHH500 or IPM650).

5. These methods can also be automated to sound an alarm or send a notification when the weight of the silo reaches a specific mass (silo load cells).
